"I wish I had a dog,"Kinsei said nuzzling his face into The Shadow's fur. 'I'd kill it...'Sonji hissed softly. 'And I'd kill us...' 'Brat...' A smirk flitted across Kinsei soft and gentle face and he chuffed softly. "Why don't you just call her Shadow for short? And why do you call her The Shadow?"he asked,"She doesn't look much like a shadow to me, Max. More like an Angel. Or a... hmmm.... Hera. That means protector..."
Looking shyly towards Izzy and Max, wide innocent black eyes looked curious at them. "Why don't you have parents? Like a mom or dad?"he asked softly,"Or even a brother or sister?" 'All useless relations. Ties that only get in the way. Like friends!' 'They are not... they can make you stronger...' 'Like you'd know! Your parents dropped you off and never came back!' Sonji laughed with mirth.
'The only way they make you stronger is when they cut those useless ropes that tie you to them!'
Kinsei didn't reply. He simply made his eyes fall to the floor. Pressing his face into the Shadow's fur once more, he hid from the eyes of Max and Izzy, feeling silently frightened now. Is that really true? You make bonds only to break them? It made his head hurt to think about it.

Max cleared her throat.
"Well, I just use whatever I have to work with... Besides it's more of a title then a name..."
She paused, leaning back again. Really the title seemed fitting, as the creature hung behind her like she was a second shadow, plus other people whispered among themselves, seeing as the two would often be seen walking the streets with no destination... The canine sighed, and nuzzled the boy. Perhaps it was time to allow Max to find the wings again... Just not quite yet... Deep grey eyes lifted when he mentioned a family. her gaze turned to the ground, her face turning to a mix of calm anger and silent sorrow.
"I have no family... not anymore... After I was taken by the ambulance, no one ever even came... So I was released form the hospital, left to find answers on my own." Max let out a sigh as she stopped. "...even if I met them one day... I'd want nothing to do with them... When I was in danger, and alone, they had nothing to do with me. So now it's just me and the shadow..."
She spoke quietly, trying not to sound disappointed. Max had gotten over wanting a family, someone who cared other then a little kid. Phoenix could still remember when she would visit Izzy's home back when she still felt so lost, and seeing the kid's moth and his older brother... It only hurt her to know she once had someone like that, but they gave up on her... Max shuddered slightly...

"You and Sonji should get married,"Kinsei said softly, pushing the fear down and smiling before looking back to The Shadow and scratching her chin,"My family abandoned me too. I was thirteen and I was stuck in a convient store when some robbers came in and began a shoot out... I sorta... sorta blacked out through some of it and when I came to... I was in a white padded room with a straight jacket on me. They refused to tell me what happened."
He looked down slowly. "I think... I think Sonji came out and hurt some people but I don't know... all I know is he started talking to me soon after the third day in my new home..."he murmured,"Why were you in a hospital, Max?" Slowly he looked back up into her grey orbs watched curiously.

Max nodded, listening to what Kinsei told about himself. The canine nodded. Well, that made sense... but it was still just as familiar as it had been before... Either way, she felt for this boy, he really knew pain, and fear... Though max hadn't been too different when she was on her own for the first time. The girl pulled her arms around her chest and sighed. Izzy looked up with bright eyes again, before she could speak. "Wow... thats real sad..." He commented, making Max roll her eyes before answering Kinsei's question.
"Well, a little over a year ago... I was jumped by a gang... The reason I don't remember a damned thing..."
Not even the reason she was jumped... Letting out another sigh, she leaned back heavily, and closed her eyes. So she had been running, nearly out of breath she had stopped and hid inside of that old warehouse. But they found her hiding spot... From there it was a blur, but still there... Blood, sinister laughs... the snarls of her companion, as she tried to protect Max... Shaking her head, Phoenix pushed it away. It was over, a long time ago... she just wished she could have forgotten along with everything else...
The shadow leaned closer, as if reading Max's mind, she remembered the events of that day as clear as Max. Of course her job had always been to remember what she had seen and heard... Even way back before Phoenix's time...

Kinsei looked down. "Maybe we can be each other's family?"he asked timidly, giving a nervous smile,"We could look after each other at least... See what its like to be close to someone." Sonji cringed a bit. 'Ick... If I could kill myself I would.' "I know we're all kinda different but that would make things interesting, don't you think?"Kinsei continued ignoring his other half.
A soft breeze brushed past his cheeks and he looked down slowly. "Then again, we hardly know each other,"he murmured,"But it was an idea. A nice one at that..." He closed his eyes and leaned back against the bench behind him, listening to the silence of the area.

"Yeah!"
Izzy blurted out, but they all pretty much figured the kid would end up saying something along those lines. Max remained silent for the moment. And the shadow drew on paw over her eyes, just waiting to see what kind of sarcastic and rude comment her master could come up with now. Shaking her head from side to side, the creature pushed her orange bangs from her eyes and sighed.
Max shifted, seemingly uncomfortable, before she cleared her throat. Her grey gaze was off in the distance, as if observing something very important, and top secret. After a long, silent minute, her eyes moved slowly to Kinsei as she pushed from the tree and approached him, her expression dark as it had been before.
"Look at the rag-tag group I've got now. I don't need a family, but I could use some friends to back me up."
She spoke in a softened tone, as her dark disguise, melted away. This was the true Max, though she didn't have multiple personalities... [anymore] She was still a lost soul beneath the cover she used to show that she was strong... The canine took a step back. Wow... that was unexpected. Her eyes softened as well, it was good to see Max lighten up just a bit... For now...

"Can I call you nee-chan, then? Or baby sister?"Kinsei asked, picking at her playfully, his black eyes coming open,"And I'll be your friend. You'll be my first." He held his hand out to her. "We'll back each other up, kay? We'll make it a pact,"he said happily.

Max lifted her brow and gave Kinsei a slight shove as he asked to call her 'sister.' She grinned and winked.
"Hey now... don't push it!"
She smirked. Th canine smiled, as did Izzy, they both knew how uptight Max often acted, and that when it came to friends, she hardly had any at all. Though the shadow had other ideas... He may be able to help us... and with hope we could do the same with this Sonji... The creature nodded to herself, thinking silently. It was good to make an alliance, friends were always good, and perhaps this one could help open this girl up... Max put her hand out as well, grasping Kinsei's.
"You got it."
Max nodded, feeling able to open up now, like this new bond opened new doors...

Kinsei smiled. "Just how old are you?"He asked suddenly,"You don't look very old but you act like some of the ladies that took care of me at the asylum... Especially like big Bertha and large Marge. They were twins. Both had these huge moles on their noses." 'Oh my god... I tried to forget about them!!!'

Max blinked, her expression going dull.
"Er, yeah thanks for the complement..."
She spoke sarcastically. Pausing she tried to think about it. Age wasn't really something she really gave a crap about, seeing as a birthday was something she didn't even really have anymore. Running her hands through her thick, odd colored hair, Max sighed, trying to do the math, as she thought back, not quite sure if she had the correct information in the first place.
"Well, the nurses there had said that I was about 16... So I should be 17 or 18 I guess..."
Max spoke, her expression still creased with thought. The shadow paused. Yet another one of those times she wished she could speak with her master again. A dream that could only come true, with a great sacrifice... and she was planning on trying to do so... Soon...

Kinsei smiled. "What do you wish to do now?"he asked. 'Maybe get some lunch. Our stomach is growling.' "Sonji suggested lunch... Problem he forgot to mention is I don't have a lot of money,"Kinsei said sweat dropping,"And I'm suppose to pay for my apartment with that money." 'Fuck. Why couldn't I get stuck with some rich motherfucker,'Sonji hissed. 'Well I'm sorry, but I haven't found a job yet.' 'Hurry up!' The boy sighed, attempting to tune out Sonji's complaints.

Max paused. Good idea... She had a few bucks to spare, especially after had found that bank card. It was weird though, she was taking money from her own account, except she had no idea how it got there, making it a little strange, but it was still cash none the less. Of course it always made her wonder where she could have gotten such big bucks like that... Looking at at Kinsei, Max shrugged.
"I've got some cash..."
She spoke, shrugging slightly. Izzy grinned, still staring at the picture that he'd been given. As for the shadow, she was still trying to contemplate a few things. There was so much that could be done... But it would be harder then hell to do it if she couldn't tell these guys what to do exactly. She sighed and shook her head, for now the canine would just have to live with being in this form, with no way to contact them... Then again, she'd done that for about 5000 years, before she had teamed up with max...
